Paden City Glass~Cheriglo Pink~Peacock & Rose~Compote~Depression Era~Elegant Glass
I am pleased to offer this lovely 8", #300 comport, with the rolled and scalloped edge, by Paden City Glass. It is the Peacock & Rose pattern manufactured during the Depression Era years 1929-1930's. This pretty pattern is a favorite of collectors.
There is controversy that the Peacock & Rose Pattern is also the Nora Bird pattern. I have read the different reasons but I guess the collectors will have to work it out for themselves. One book author and a popular replacements company calls this pattern the Peacock & Wild Rose but others just call it Peacock & Rose.
The condition is excellent without any chips, nicks, cracks, repairs or haziness. I don't see any utensil scratches. There is minimal wear. Probably lightly used.
The pink color is called Cheriglo and it is more rosy pink than many of the pinks of the Depression Era. My pictures do not do justice to the pretty color. I have used talc powder on the design to showcase the beautiful Peacock & Rose etch. It washes right off.
This item is shown in green on page 171 in the book "Encyclopedia of Paden City Glass" by Carrie and Jerry Domitz.
This nice comport would add just the right touch to your elegant table for any occasion.
