Vintage Elegant Imperial Glass Company Candlewick 8" Crimped Top Vase #400/87C Ca. 1939-1963
Offering for your Candlewick collection this lovely vintage 8" vase with a crimped top and six graduated beads on both sides starting with the big bead at the top.
The color of this vase has what I would call a pale blue-lavender-violet tint. It is a very subtle shade and my last picture compares the vase with a clear Fenton hobnail candy jar to show the difference. I have seen this shading on other Candlewick pieces from time to time but I haven't found a name for it. On Page 94 in, "Candlewick The Jewel of Imperial Book II" Copyright 1995, by Mary M. Wetzel-Tomalka, there is a list named (Collector's Finds In Blue). It is showing a list of various pieces of Candlewick and #400/87C is on the list. It is not Viennese Blue. The Viennese Blue pieces are on a different list. Ms. Wetzel-Tomalka also mentions in her book that Imperial often experimented with pieces in various colors and shades. I have wondered from time to time when I see this hue on a piece of Imperial Candlewick, if this color was perhaps an experimental color.
In excellent pre-owned condition, no chips, stains, cracks or cloudiness, one tiny scuff close to one of the crimps near the top and one small mold mark (inclusion) near a top bead on one side. I have pictured the mark but was not successful with the scuff.
This vase is a pretty one with its crimped ruffled top, and it is ready to go. The perfect size for a medium bouquet.
