This is such an incredibly beautiful German doll. The doll is not marked, but looks like a Kestner, but could be another German maker. She has the most beautiful face with such a serene look. She is 19 inches tall with piercing ice blue spiral paperweight glass eyes, delicately painted lashes and the early feathered brows. She has a lovely closed mouth with the red line through the center. Her solid dome head is turned to the right and she is on a beautiful deeply molded shoulderplate. Her bisque is beautiful and pale with a slight blush to her cheeks. There are no markings on the head or shoulderplate, as these early dolls weren't usually marked. There are no hairlines or repairs. She has a faint in the making mold surface line on the corner of her right eye, this is totally in the making and not a hairline. There is another in the making mark coming down from the end of her right eye brow, this is in the making and very minor. She has a tiny bisque colored pinsized bump between her lashes on her left lower eye, this is in the making also. There is a pinsized dot on her nose and a couple on her right cheek, again in the making. There is paint missing from the upper back of the head, but is completely covered by her hair. These small imperfections are very commonly seen on these early dolls and are not considered flaws. Most would not even mention these markings that were made in the making.
She is on a beautiful German lady fashion body with leather arms and fashion hands with stitched fingers. The lovely very early body has some age wear, mainly to the hands, but still a beautiful kid fashion body, with the gusseted joints. Please email me for pictures of the body. She is wearing a gorgeous expertly made dress of pale blue antique silks and laces with beaded trim. Her lovely antique hat sets off those piercing blue eyes and she has antique underwear, socks & antique Keystone boots. Her lovely blonde mohair wig is original & is glued on tight, therefore I did not want to remove it.
This doll is incredibly beautiful & will be the center of a collection with her beauty! This is an exceptional example of an early German fashion doll. Circa 1880
