Fantastic late 19th century American oil painting featuring a decorative arrangement of various fruits placed on the table. Painting is signed in lower right corner J. Bateson 1889. The painting shows bunches of green and red grapes, peaches, pears, cherries, strawberries, plums, and a pomegranate. The fruits have been depicted in a highly realistic way and tempt with their ripe shapes and vivid colors. Painting was bought in the late 1970s at Noyes, van Cline, and Davenport Art Gallery.
Painting is in a very good condition, but it has numerous old repairs. Please see the picture of the back, it shows all the patches were put on the painting. All these repairs appear to be done at least 20-30 years ago.
Painting measures 39.5 inches x 27.5 inches (framed).
