This is a fine antique Victorian period marine shell mourning locket on original necklace cord with 2 matching shell slides. The locket has raised initials BOI on the front and a plain back. It opens to reveal 3 period photographs. Two of the photos are trimmed tintypes of a young girl and a boy. The other is a trimmed photo on paper of a woman. The matching slides have the same initials as the locket. The cord has a simple spring ring clasp.
The locket measures 1.25" x 1.5" x .5". Condition: I note 1 tiny nibble to a letter on the front. The necklace has a length of 14" from clasp to bottom of locket. The length around the neck is adjustable but looks best around 16" leaving a drop of 6" below. The matching slides are each 1.125" square. Both have some nibbles mostly visible from the back side.
The shell color is a beautiful mottled translucent gold to brown. This necklace is a rare relic from the past.
