This is a circa 1920s -1930s sterling silver goddess pendant brooch containing a sulphide painted reverse carved crystal set against a bronze butterfly wing background. The female goddess figure is wearing a draped gown, standing with one knee resting on a column that holds a flower filled urn. She is lifting a flower up in one hand. A butterfly and dragonfly are flying on the other side. The setting is marked SILVER 12, and tests as sterling grade silver. The reverse side has both a pin stem with roll over safety clasp and a bail for use as a pendant.
This piece weighs 9 gr. It measures 1.125" x 1.5".
Condition: The sulphide paint has come loose and in some areas the blue backing material shows through. Price reflects condition.
Though the paint loss is a defect it also contributes to giving this piece a rather ancient effect that is not unpleasing.
