This is a very large circa 1940s vintage Coro Norseland sterling silver hawk bird brooch. The bird's wings are up and separated, head is curved downward, and talons are ready to grip as though the hawk is preparing to grab its prey on the ground. The back of the brooch is marked Norseland by Coro over a Nordic ship, STERLING, and REG. US. PAT. OFF. The brooch has a standard pin stem on back, with functional roll over safety clasp.
This brooch measures 4.5" from the left wing tip to the end of the tail, 2.75" between the 2 wing tips, 3.5" from the right wing tip to the bottom talons, and 3" from beak to tip of tail. It weighs 24.7 gr.
Condition is good.
This is a big and dramatic silver brooch. It would be a great addition to a collection of Coro jewelry, or perfect for a hawk fancier.
