This is a charming 19" tall circa 1900 German low brow china head doll on an old home made cloth body. At first I thought this head was unmarked but when I looked very closely then enhanced the close up photo of the back of the shoulder plate I was able to find model number 136 and the word Germany. You can't see this with the naked eye so I have included the enhanced photo here. The doll has a low brow hair style. The shoulder head is 5.25" tall, 4" across the shoulders and 3.25" deep at the base. Her home made cloth body is cotton cloth stuffed with cotton batting. She has simple stub hands and tiny feet. The upper part of the body has an old recovering. H
Her clothing is antique and consists of white cotton pantaloons, wool petticoat, black cotton print skirt, white cotton blouse with woven stripe, and a tiny bar pin.
Condition: The shoulder head is in good condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. There are a couple of kiln specks. Her petticoat has some holes. the body is patched and age discolored.
She is a nice example of a low brow china head doll, in a good larger size, well dressed in antique clothing, and with an amusingly shaped antique cloth body.
