This early 1900s miniature Chinese opera doll is a mere 4.5" tall. I have never seen one this small size. The body appears to be made from a wrapped wire armature. The shape is given to the robe by layers of stiff paper inside. The outer clothing is silk embellished with silver foil decorations. The face is delicately painted, and given the tiny size must have been done with a single hair brush. The shoes are incredible. No hands were made for this doll as the extra long sleeves extend beyond the ends of the arms. The arms are permanently posed.
Condition: The clothing is slightly faded. There is a rub to the nose.
This would be a rare addition to a collection of Asian dolls.
