This is an unusual Arts and Crafts era hand crafted watch chain and fob featuring a large boulder opal in a sterling silver setting. The watch 'chain' is a strap of tan leather with silver fittings. The main fob portion is marked sterling on the back and a maker's mark W.
The total length is 7" and it is 1.375" wide. The fob with opal measures 1.75" x 1.375". The opal alone measures .875" x .625".
Condition is good. I have left this unpolished so there is patina from age. There is a natural line of inclusion across the front of the stone.
I was tempted to remove the fob to put it on a chain to be worn as a necklace with pendant, but didn't have the heart to change this original configuration. Still it would make a smashing pendant.
