This is a classic antique Austro Hungarian Victorian period brooch in 900 silver and featuring a single large faceted amethyst stone and smaller pearl and amethyst accents. Amethyst 'stones' are untested and might be glass. The brooch has tiny hallmarks on the C clasp that identify it as Austro Hungarian. Silver content tests as slightly less than sterling silver and is estimated to be 900 silver. Pearls are real natural pearls, both the half pearls on the sides and the strands of tiny seed pearls. The back of the brooch features typical Austro Hungarian engraved decorations as well. The brooch has a standard pin stem and old fashioned C clasp closure.
This brooch measures 1.625" x 1.375" . It weighs 13.77 gr.
Condition is good.
This is a fine example of the Renaissance revival style popular at the time.
