This is a 24" tall antique carved wood puppet old woman doll from Myanmar Burma. She is intact, with original sequin embellished costume consisting of green silk short robe, and black skirt with gold silk thread. The head has short black hair, and movable mouth. Of special note is the incredible jointing of the hands. The puppet is still strung and has the attached cross bar. What can't be overlooked is this gal's articulated breasts, with puppet strings attached to animate them. Her robe also has stings attached so it can be opened at will to expose her special feature. These are not the perky breasts of youth, but rather the aged breasts of an old woman, and they hang down accordingly.
Condition: Wear to painted surfaces. Loose threads of gold silk on her skirt. Strings are a bit tangled but can be worked out.
The workmanship of these puppet dolls from Burma is excellent. They are an under-appreciated art form. And this humorous old woman will not fail to make you grin.
