This is a circa 1900 German bisque bonnet head doll in a large 17" size, antique body and clothes. The shoulder plate is marked 1A for size and model. This child doll has a pudgy face framed by a molded deep golden yellow rimmed bonnet with white crown in back and pink ribbons. The antique body is horsehair stuffed with leather arms and boots. Her antique clothing consists of cotton pantalettes and chemise, wool petticoat, and a white cotton dress with pink dots and mesh trim at neck and cuffs.
Condition: Unfortunately the shoulder plate of this doll head has been repaired. The back of the shoulder plate was broken off along the side seams and back of the neck. The body has has some repairs to the doll's right boot. The shoulder area of the arms will need repair soon. Fingers are all present but are beginning to come apart along seams. Price reflects condition.
A collector could form an entire collection from the bonnet head dolls. I especially like the larger earlier ones with chubby faces like this one.
