This is a beautiful antique brooch depicting an urn or compote dish hold a bounty of fruits and surrounded by a decorative border. There are 3 sapphire blue oval cabochon stones among the fruit, and I assume those stones to be glass or paste. The setting is unmarked but tests positive for lower grade silver content of approximately 800 grade silver. The brooch is backed with an oval of bone. The back of the brooch has an old fashioned T hinged pin stem and C clasp. There are no visible hallmarks but this brooch is believed to be of French make.
The brooch weighs 13.5 gr. It measures 1.5" x 2".
Condition is good, but I note that there is some discoloration on the bone backing from contact with the metal and probably due to polishing compounds.
This is an unusual and eye catching antique brooch.
