This is fine example of Victorian period mourning jewelry in dark brown Vulcanite and black glass jet. The brooch is in the form of 2 interlocking flat rings with notched outer edges, surmounted by a curving ribbon and a center circle. Jet glass balls are fixed to the ends of the ribbon and center circle. The back has a standard pin stem and old fashioned C clasp.
The brooch measures 1.5" x 2".
Condition is good but for a stable split through the back of one ring, visible from the back side.
This would be a suitable period piece for a Civil War re-enactor to wear.
