This is a lovely Victorian era pale pink carved shell brooch in the form of a grape leaf. The color and material resembles angel skin coral, but I believe that this carving was made from a pink lipped conch shell or similar shell fish. The carving is skillfully and realistically accomplished. The natural curve of the shell has been incorporated into the shape of the leaf. The back has an old fashioned T hinged pin stem and C clasp.
This brooch measures 1.875" x 2".
Condition is good. The back displays some natural aberrations in the surface, but these are not chips or damage.
This brooch is such a beautiful shade of palest pink, just a slight blush.
