This is a large vintage South American necklace chain and pendant in 900 silver that depicts an Incan or Mayan standing figure holding a crude emerald stone. The round pendant disc is slightly concave and it is marked 0900 on the back. The heavy chain is 31" around and has no clasp or markings. It also tests positive for 900 silver.
The necklace weighs 48.1 gr. The pendant measures 2.5" in diameter.
Condition is good. The silver has been left unpolished so there is patina. Note that the emerald stone is a natural, unpolished piece of rough stone.
I have not been able to definitely trace the origins in South America, but emeralds are mined in Columbia so that is a possibility. This is a very distinctive piece of ethnic jewelry, and of substantial silver weight.
