This is an unusual 16.5" tall mid 1800s German wooden shoulder head doll with fine original clothing. The body is cloth with wooden lower arms and legs. The shoulder head has carved hairstyle with bun in back. Her amusing facial features are carved then painted, and she has a rather large nose and overbite with receding chin. Her wonderful early clothing consists of white cotton chemise, pantaloons and petticoat, printed wool challis skirt with blue plaid band of trim, red plaid jacket top with black silk ruffle and red soutache trim. She also has a small bar pin closing the top and I have added a belt with old buckle to close the waist.
Condition: paint loss to shoulder head, arms and legs as seen in photos. No repaint. Skirt and jacket have scattered holes and jacket's black silk trim is shredding away.
I love the expression on this doll's face.
