This is a large 19 inch tall German Hertwig petname Mabel china head doll. She has a heavy firmly stuffed commercially made cloth body. The shoulder head has a slight turn to the head. The shoulder plate has a molded blouse and the name Mabel is gold lettering. She is dressed in period appropriate antique clothing consisting of a one piece undergarment combining chemise and pantaloons, petticoat, socks, and beige floral print dress with shoulder caps over the sleeve tops. She also comes with a charming pin engraved 1938-1939 H K Field Bible Class. The doll dates earlier though, from circa 1905 or so.
Condition: There is a chip on the outer right edge of the shoulder plate. The one piece undergarment has some tears and stains.
This is a fine large example of a petname chain doll.
