This is a sweet little 9 inch tall mid 1800s German taufling baby doll of the so-called Motschmann body type and glass eyes. This child doll has papier mache jointed limbs and head with cloth joining them. The baby also has a working squeaker inside the stomach that is operated by pushing the upper and lower body together in the middle. Baby is dressed in antique clothing consisting of slip, gown and cape. The bonnet is modern made from old lace.
Condition: I think the head may have originally had a wax coating that is now gone, along with some of the coloring of the head and face. The head has newer stringing attaching it to the body.
This is a fine petit example of this type of doll.
