This is a gorgeous antique Victorian period floral cameo brooch in an unusual long rectangular form. The setting is unmarked gold filled or plated. The setting is formed to fit the curve of the carved shell cameo. It has a plain bezel surrounded by delicate decorative work on the sides and ends. The cameo has a rose in the center framed by leaves, daisies and lilies on the ends.
This brooch measures 3.25" x 1".
Condition: No defects to the cameo. The setting has some tarnish. The pin stem is a bit crooked but functional. This brooch appears to have originally been made as a hair clip ornament but was converted during the Victorian period into a brooch. The T hinged pin stem and C clasp are correct for the period. 2 small holes remain in each end of the setting where the original hair clip mountings would have been.
If you favor unusual cameo carved jewelry then this beauty would suit you well.
