This is a wonderful Victorian period Irish bog oak wreath brooch embellished in 9K yellow gold with 6 acorns and a center buckle ring engraved with the words Erin go Bragh, meaning 'Ireland forever'. There are no markings. The metal tests positive for low gold content believed to be 9K as test holds only weakly for 10K. The back has an old fashioned T hinged pin stem and C clasp.
The brooch measures 2.25" x 2" and is more than .25" thick.
Condition is good.
This is the finest example of Irish bog oak jewelry that I have had the pleasure of owning. Pieces like this do not come along often. Grab it quick before it goes into my own jewel box.
