This is a highly detailed 3 dimensional vintage sterling silver Mexican made brooch depicting a bull fighter in action with a bull. The matador is spearing the back of the bull's neck with banderillas. The matador's cape is flaring open between him and the bull. The bull's head and horns are turned aggressively towards the matador. This is all captured in very high 3 dimensional relief in sterling silver - an amazing piece of craftsmanship. The brooch is marked on the back Mexico Sterling, predating the eagle marking system. The brooch has a standard pin stem and a functional roll over safety clasp with the older style rabbit ear style clasp.
This is quite a large brooch, weighing 24.7 gr and measuring 2" x 3" by up to .75" deep.
Condition is good. Patina is intact.
The amount of detail and the action captured in this extremely sculptural brooch is breathtaking. The skill to accomplish such a miniature work of art in silver is impressive. Such an aggressively outstanding piece is not for the meek - do you dare?
