This is a fine 25" tall German flat top china head doll on an original commercially made cloth body with bisque limbs. Unfortunately one of her fancy bisque lower legs is broken. The body is stamped Germany on the back. This doll was probably made by Alt Beck & Gottschalck. Family history dated this doll as far back as the 1930s,when her current dress was probably made for her. She is wearing white cotton pantalettes and a 2 piece green cotton dress sprigged with tiny rose buds in red and blue. Note the excellent condition of the body, the very well modeled arms and remaining leg, and the original factory stitching attaching the doll head to the body. It is important to also note that the maker chose to combine a china head with bisque limbs.
Condition: The china head has no chips, cracks or repairs. There is a small factory flaw on its right cheek as well as a slight black paint smudge there near the hair. The right leg is broken. I wish I had the broken pieces but alas I do not.
This doll is an anomaly in combining china and bisque parts in a factory original doll. She makes an excellent study example. She is also a fine large display doll.
