I think it is safe to say that this 16” antique home made cloth doll is unique. Pirate? Bugler? I’m unsure of intent but he is dressed in a red and white cotton print short pant outfit with sailor collar and matching hat. A yellow flannel studded collar sits at his neck. He has amazing tall black oilcloth boots with wooden heels. He carries a tin toy bugle. His hair, or what’s left of it, appears to have been rabbit fur. His face is embroidered with the penciled addition of a mustache. Hands are very simple with stitched lines for finger definition. He is fairly heavy.
Condition: The wool fabric covering the face has some moth holes. Red suit is faded in front. Rabbit fur hair is sparse.
