This is a fine circa 1970s vintage silver plated Brutalist style pendant necklace by Jacob Hull of Denmark by B+D for Illums Boligus department store. This heavy pendant is composed of a concave circle set with a single freeform polished agate stone/ The back of the pendant has 4 randomly placed circular openings of varying sizes. The bail is formed from a flat strip applied to the back and curled to form a loop. The markings on the bail are Denmark, B+D J.Hull.
The matching chain has no clasp, as it is 30" long and can easily slip over the head. The pendant measures 2.125" in diameter, excluding the bail and is .5" deep.
Jacob Hull designed one of a kind jewelry in sterling at his home studio, and also limited run silver and gold plated pieces produced by Buch & Diechmann. Those B+D pieces were sold in the high end Danish department store called Illums Boligus. His jewelry is always hand signed or stamped with his name.
Hull jewelry is big, bold and edgy. If you are equally bold, perhaps you will understand its appeal.
