This is a wonderful early 1900s German Pierrot wax over half doll bust figure with bisque arms and legs and original costume. He is in a seated position but if standing would be about 15" tall. Pierrot has a distressed expression on his face, with knitted eyebrows, and mouth opened in a cry. The bust is typically made from a plaster like material with a wax coating over top. The arms are attached by wires to the shoulders. The bisque legs are thigh high and also wired to the rest of the wire armature type body. The torso is wire wrapped with old paper. He original costume is faded black with white silk cuffs on top and pant legs, and bottom of tunic, plus white puffs on the front.
Condition: The white silk trim on the costume is splitting. There are a few scuffs on the face: chin, upper lip, nose tip and left brow. The paper wrappings inside are disintegrating a bit.
If you admire these interesting character figures, this one is a classic and wonderfully all original.
