This is a large 19" tall circa 1900 German Hertwig low brow hair style blond so-called parian bisque doll with fancy decorated shoulder plate and turned head. She has a simple antique home made cloth body. Her antique clothing consists of cotton pantaloons and slip topped by a pink cotton dotted swiss dress with lace overlay on bodice and ruffle trim. Her socks are stitched in place and she has a fabulous pair of old red leather shoes.
Condition: The shoulder head is in good condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. The body is sturdy and in good condition. Her pink dress has wear and tears on the sleeves, and in my opinion I think the dress has been over dyed pink and was originally white. I also think the snaps in the back were a later addition to the dress. The red leather shoes are sturdy, with acceptable minor edge wear.
This is a fine large example of this type of doll with the added feature of the elaborately decorated shoulder plate. I would like to see her in a different dress that shows that feature off better, but she comes in her pink dress.
