This is a 11" tall antique german bisque boy doll with original costume. He is actually a blond but his hair was colored black, apparently at the time he was originally put together. I think his costume is intended as an ethnic regional costume and a dark haired fellow was preferred to complete the look - so they painted the hair. The paint could be removed, but because I think it was an original intent, I have left it as is. There is no damage to the shoulder head. Dark lines in the photos are black thread that is holding his costume together. He is dressed in black velvet pants, a fleece vest with black velvet sleeves, and red wool shirt. His bisque legs have wool stockings tied over them.
Condition: the only damage to the bisque is his right thumb is chipped off. trim on vest is worn. Hole in his stocking,
He is a sweet little fellow. I imagine him with a shepherds crook minding a flock of sheep.
