This is an amazing antique carved and painted wood mechanical man figure in the form of a cavalier a la the Three Musketeers. He stands 18" tall including the metal base, and 15.5" from toe to top feather. The base holds 3 simple levers that operate his movements. One lever raises and lowers his right arm. The other 2 levers are paired next to each other, though they can be operated independently. They serve to make his head nod forward and back, and his eyes to go side to side.
This dandy's costume is incredible. He wears a green hat topped by 3 feather plumes, a red cape with blue lining and gold trim, a pink poofy blouse and matching short trousers topped by a snug brown belted tunic. His tan dotted hose matches his arm coverings, and he has fancy brown boots that flare out at the top and have a gold decorative trim. He sure is fancy.
Condition: There is general paint wear. His left wrist has been broken and glued back on. His hands probably once held something that is now gone.
This fellow is amazing. He will be a star in a very special collection.
