This is a Rebaje copper double mask parure set that includes the pendant necklace, brooch, and 2 pairs of earrings. One pair of earrings has been converted into pierced by removing the screw backs and adding hooks.
The pendant necklace has a heavy 18" chain and 2.25" diameter pendant. It is marked Rebaje on both chain clasp and back of pendant. Condition is good with expected patina.
The brooch measures 2" x 2.5" and is marked Rebaje on the back. It has a typical pin clasp with roll over safety catch. Good condition.
Neither pair of earrings is visibly marked. One pair has the original non pierced screw backs. The other pair has been rather crudely modified to be pierced by removing the original screw backs and gluing on the hooks. I am including the later for free.
I am always impressed by the life story of Francisco Rebajes. He came to New York as a penniless illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic in the 1920s, and worked his way literally up from the gutter to owning his own showroom on 5th Avenue in New York and living in a New York penthouse by the 1940s - all due to his enormous design talent. He is an important designer of the early Mid Century Modern era.
