This is a sweet 22" tall antique circa 1860s German bisque so-called parian doll made by Alt Beck & Gottschalck, and featuring blue glass eyes and a distinctly turned shoulder head. This child doll is on what may be her original factory made antique cloth body. Her antique bisque arms have replaced leather uppers as the original leather had degraded past saving. Her antique clothing consists of cotton stockings, leather boots, pantaloons, chemise, petticoat and beautiful white dress with diagonal pleats and lace insets.
Condition: All bisque parts are in good condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. The body has typical age discoloration but is sturdy. Leather portion of arms is replaced. Her dress has quite a few holes in the bottom ruffle but is otherwise OK. One leather boot is missing a buckle.
ABG excelled at making sweet chubby children doll and this is a fine early example.
Offers considered, except on Red Tag sale items and on items with final reductions.
