This is an unusual antique Victorian period brooch composed of a Vulcanite chrysanthemum flower on a round wooden base. the back has a brass metal plate and steel pin stem of the old fashioned T hinged type and C clasp. The Vulcanite flower and round wooden base have the same dark red brown color.
This brooch measures 2" in diameter.
Condition is good.
This is an unusual image to be depicted in this material. Vulcanite was often used for mourning pieces, and the more commonly seen flowers are forget-me-nots, lilies, and others associated with mourning.
