This is a pair of antique German flat top hairstyle china head dolls, both of the same model and close to the same 8.5" size. These china dolls came from an estate sale in my area with the history that they had been passed down in the same Washington DC family, and were in the 1870s given to sisters named Amabelle (or Amabel) and Abigail, but I have no verification of this and no family name. However I decided to keep this pair together and sell them as a unit. They are clearly the same model, yet there are some differences. One measures 8.5" tall and the other is very slightly smaller at 8.25" tall. Both are marked inside with an inscribed size number, one clearly reads as 16, and the other one could be 14 or 16.
The shorter 8.25" tall head one has more distinct sharper modeling. It measures 7.25 wide and 4.625" deep at the base. This doll head has a small blemish on her nose, a pock mark and some kiln specks. There is some minor wear to the hair color.
The taller 8.5" head is 7.5" across the shoulders and 4.625" deep at the base. She has only 1 tiny spot of hair color wear and no other imperfections.
It's nice to have at least a little history to go with these doll heads, assuming it's accurate. Please note that these big china heads are heavy. I offer both Priority shipping for speed and Ground shipping to save on cost.
