This is a very large 7" tall low brow china doll head by German company Hertwig. It is marked with size number 10 on the back of the shoulder plate, and it retains an original red outlined sticker label on the front. The label has the number 50 handwritten on it. Perhaps it originally sold for 50 cents. The doll head measures 7" tall, 5.25" wide, and 3.5" deep at the base. Her head circumference is 14".
Condition: there are 2 small chips on the inside bottom front edge, 1 is on the doll's right front corner, and the other is about an inch away toward the center. The corner one is slightly visible from the front. The other is not. There is light hair color wear on the back of the head and one spot of hair color is flaked off on the dolls lower left front. No other chips, cracks or repairs.
I believe that this china doll head with pale blue eyes is almost the largest size that was made of this model. I have on rare occasion seen it in a the larger sizes 12 and 14, but this size 10 is quite hard to find. If you like the big chinas, add this one to your collection.
