This is a wonderful circa 1870s -1880s German bisque shoulder head doll model 1154 size 10 made by Alt Beck & Gottschalck. She has an uncommon hairstyle drawn up into a diagonal twist across the back of the head and a pile of small curls atop her forehead. A wave of short curls grace the nape of her neck. She has pierced ears with small garnet glass fluted bead earrings. She has a very nice antique cloth body with patched leather arms. The glorious icing on this cake of a doll is her fabulous regional costume, which I laboriously removed and replaced again for these photos. She has a 3 piece bodice, embroidered wool pocket, dark blue apron, Purple print cotton skirt, drawers, cotton stockings and black oil cloth shoes.
Of special note is the beautiful buckle stitched atop her right shoulder. It might be sterling but I haven't tested it. It is set with dark blue and red paste stones - one of which is missing.
Condition: no chips, cracks or repairs to head or shoulder plate, bodice fabric is shredding.
This wonderful doll stands 22" tall and could be a standout in your collection.
