This is an antique American Goodyear rubber shoulder head doll marked GOODYEARS'S PAT MAY 6 1951 EXT 1865. This doll is 25" tall. She has an antique homemade cloth body with leather lower arms and sewn on leather boots over black stockings. Her antique clothing consists of white cotton petticoat and pantaloons topped by a pale pink cotton print dress.
Condition: There is obviously paint wear to the face, which is common and typical for this type of doll. There is also an old crack on the back of the head through the hair area.
Though she is no beauty and she has defects, these Goodyear rubber head dolls are an important part of American doll manufacturing history. She is still a worthy addition to a studious doll collection.
