This is a fine circa 1870s 21" tall china head doll made by the gErman company Conta Boehme. She has an elaborate fancy hairstyle with a center part, feathering at the temples, wings of hair pulled back on the sides, and a wide braid encircling the back of the head. She has china arms and a factory cloth body. Her antique clothing consists of white cotton petticoat and pantaloons, brown stockings, and a wonderful red print dress with lace cap sleeves. The dress closes in back with rather large mother of pearl buttons. The dress is both hand and machine stitched.
Condition: there is no significant damage to the shoulder head, other than 2 small areas where the black hair color is missing in back. No chips, cracks or repairs to the china parts. The shoulder head does have a smattering of kiln specks. I did repair the top of the body but applying a cloth cover over top. Also the upper cloth arms have been restored and there is an old cloth patch over one ankle.
This fine lady doll is a regal girl.
