Vintage 1930' SINGER COHEN NYC Ruby Red Dangle Festoon Necklace is simply elegant, with an Art Nouveau flare. The large focal pendant has detailed leaves and is filled with light ruby red demi fins, true red chatons and a large raspberry red faceted oval stone. The five stations along the front of the necklace repeat the pattern and rhinestones. The embossed chaining appears to have had silver gilt at one time, but has lost almost all of the plating down to the brass. The silver tone plating of the setting pieces remains in very good condition and I believe the base is pot metal due to the weight of the piece. The pendant section has a cartouche marked Singer Cohen N.Y.C., which may be related to, or one in the same as Singer & Cantor N.Y. This may be a U.S. businesses that ordered European jewelry which they affixed their own cartouch name to.
