This bisque bathing beauty is a less- common model by the German firm of Carl Scheidig, established in 1906. She is a dainty delight in her white ruffled molded bathing cap and skirted 1920s flapper bathing suit, trimmed in purple. Her shapely legs are free from her body and her slender feet are clad in purple pumps. Molded dark blonde hair peeks out the sides of her cap and her pretty face is delicately painted. Underneath she is incised “7485” and stamped in red “Relpaw Germany.” Relpaw was a German export company that specialized in aquariums and fish tank decorations and it ordered its products from a number of Germany porcelain factories. This little sea-side siren is 4 inches long and is of fine, sharp bisque. She is in excellent condition, with no breaks or repairs. There are some small rough areas on the back of her shoulders and left forearm and hand where she rested on the kiln shelf, but these minor factory flaws are only visible on close inspection and are not visible when she is displayed (although they attest to her age and authenticity).
