This unusual parian or untinted bisque shoulder head is of an engaging young boy with sculpted blond curls, deep intaglio blue eyes, and coral lips parted in a slight smile. There are even dimples in his softly blushed checks and another in his chin! He is a pretty big boy too, at roughly 5.5 inches tall and 4.25 inches across the bottom of the shoulderplate. The bisque is excellent, with sharp, crisp molding, and the painting is delicately done. He is incised "99" on the back edge of the shoulderplate and is stamped "Germany" inside in blue. There is a tiny rough spot on the tip of his nose--I did not even see it until I took the pictures. It looks like a minute bubble or mold flaw. It is really only noticeable upon very close inspection and does not distract from his handsome character. His is a face that will set the sawdust heart of any antique girl doll aflutter!
