The Edwardian doll house reflected the society of the time, and every well-run doll house needed a full staff of servants. I suspect that this handsome man with his dashing handlebar mustache in his original green felt outfit with its double-row of golden "buttons" is supposed to be the footman. The dashing footman, in his smart uniform, signaled the family's wealth and prestige, accompanying them on calls and standing by the door when they had guests. He also assisted the butler and served the family at meals and tea. This handsome man has a bisque head and limbs and a cloth body. The head is of excellent bisque and is well modeled and decorated, and he has molded black boots with tan soles. There are no visible marks, but he is of fine German quality. Other than some very slight surface soil, his clothing is in wonderful condition for his age, and there are no breaks or repairs. There is one darker area on the top back of his head, about the size of a grain of rice; this minor factory flaw does not distract from his manly appearance (although it attests to his age and authenticity). He is 5 inches tall.
