This handsome all-bisque sailor with his dashing mustache, dark blonde curls, and blue eyes must have a sweetheart in every port (which might explain the rather sorry shape of his trousers). All bisque men are hard to find, and this swaggering sailor with his jaunty blue cap is sure to send lady doll hearts aflutter. His molded sailor cap, trimmed with an anchor in front and two ribbons in the back, declares that he is a “Marine.” Of excellently bisque, with a complexion rosy from sea and sun, he is well modeled and decorated. His handsome, if boyish, features, are well painted, and her wears molded black heeled boots with tan soles. His long slim arms and legs are wire jointed at the shoulders and hips. He still wears his original clothing (these is something about a man in uniform!), and his blue jacket with its nautical collar is largely intact, although he is missing one of his gold bead buttons and the fabric cuffs are stained and worn. His pants, with tiny braid trim up the outside of each leg, are in poor shape, very fragile and torn, but might serve as a pattern for a new pair. This sea-going he-man is 3.75 inches high and although any marks are hidden under his clothing, he is of fine German quality. Sadly, this sailor must have hit some rough seas, as both legs were broken and reglued at the ankles. The break is nearly invisible in the front, but there is a small sliver missing from the back of his right lower calf and a larger chip at the right calf. A new pair if pants would cover the damage. If you like early and unusual all-bisque dolls, or need a miniature man to escort some of the smaller ladies in your collection, this swashbuckling sailor is for you!
