This superb half doll is by the German firm of Dressel, Kister, and Company, renown among collectors as one of the premiere makers of pincushion dolls. Of the finest china, this 6 inch tall art deco damsel represents Pierrette, the female version of Pierrot. Indeed, with her upturned eyes and clasped hands, she appears to be dreaming of her handsome companion. Brown curls peek out from under her black cap and kiss her cheeks. Her large blue painted eyes, under expression black brows, are accented with blue shading and lavish blushing. There is also shading between her parted beestung lips and blushing on the backs of her hands. She displays the tapered waist typical of Kister half dolls and is marked with the company's blue bishop's crozier mark, as well as with the letter "B." The lower torso, which would have been covered by her clothing or pincushion, was not glazed. There are no brakes or repairs.
