Vintage American postage stamp box silver plated with a lovely embossed U.S. Mail design on the top of a hinged lid. This vintage box represents a piece of Americana when people bought and used stamps by the roll. The inside has gold vermeil and designed with a slope to hold the roll of stamps. It is hallmarked Homan Co., Quadruple and numbered 214. The Homan Manufacturing Company began business in 1847 and closed in 1941. The silver plate is good with age-related wear and a primitive stylized flag has been hand scratched into the surface . It measures 1.75 by 1.50 inches.
