Royal Copenhagen figurine Flight to America from Denmark depicts a young girl and boy who are newly arrived to America. The boy is dressed in white pants with a buttoned vest and short jacket. He holds his hand to his chin as if deep in thought. The girl wears a pretty plaid dress with long sleeves and white collar. She carries a pretzel in her hand and a book under her arm. The designer, Christian Thomsen (1860-1921) sculpted the figurine in 1915. He captures their innocent expressions. It measures 8 inches tall and 4 inches across the base. The condition is excellent and bears the full hallmark with Royal Copenhagen Denmark encircling the crown. A small bar below a 'g' on the bottom dates the piece to 1969-74. The original paper tag is still attached and it has the painter's initials, the trademark waves, and impressed item number 1761. This wonderful figurine is found in the Collector's Guide to Royal Copenhagen by Nick and Caroline Pope. It would make a wonderful addition to a collection and most memorable gift.
