Antique primitive Folk Art wooden box makes a wonderful document or child's tool box. It hand made using square nail construction, leather trim banding straps, and brass tacks, circa 19th Century. The box is hinged and has an iron lock with a brass swivel. The lock appears to have been added for decorative purposes or maybe as a disguise. It has old paint on the outside except the bottom. It is unlined with writing on the inside lid that is not legible and the wood has a wonderful grain and original hardware. It measures 14 inches wide by 6.50 inches deep by 5.75 inches high and weighs about 3 pounds. The box has normal wear appropriate for its age. It is clean, odor free, and ready to be enjoyed. I believe this was a child's tool or play box in its day. It has endless possibilities. It could be used as a child's tool box for crayons and small items, a storage or document box, a vanity box for a gentleman and it would be ideal to hold TV remotes putting them out of sight. Last of all it is a great gift idea that would be welcomed and memorable.
