Victorian Wave Crest biscuit jar by C.F. Monroe Mt. Washington, circa 1890s features floral transfer decoration on a molded round flared base corset pattern and silver plated mount, ornate bail handle and top. Also known as a cracker barrel, light red and pink roses and blue forget-me-not floral sprays decorate the front and back on a light green ground graduating to white opal. It is interesting to note that opal glass was produced by dipping the glass in acid to give it a smooth finish before decorating. It measures 6.75 inches high by 6 inches wide and weighs 2 pounds 1.7 ounces. It is excellent with no chips, nicks, cracks or repairs. the silver plated mount and cover has a nice, warm patina.
