This is a beautiful pendant designed and made by Stefano Velaskas from New Orleans. Mr Velaskas is a relatively unknown artist who defected from Czechoslovakiia in 1968. A United States citizen, Mr. Velaskas is a prolific craftsman, who makes his art from the remnants of copper roofs and other salvaged debris from the Hurricane Katrina disaster. He is a relatively unknown, but his work is prolific as well as historically significant.
This pendant has the famous New Orleans carriage on a background of mother of pearl on top of Katrina debris and surrounded by sterling silver. A beautiful piece that you can add your own necklace to. It measures 1.5 inches long from the bale to the bottom of the pendant and it is .75 inch in diameter. The carriage detail is outstanding. This is truly a beautiful, one of a kind piece from a talented master craftsman.
