This is a spiral bound cookbook created by Heloise Frost and illustrated by Ellen A. Nelson. Contains 128 pages. Recipes are organized in categories of foods from: British Isles, China, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Scandinavia, and America. All the recipes are clearly printed and each page has beautiful illustrations, many in color, to give an international feel to this very charming book.
Recipes include yorkshire pudding, scotch pancakes, irish bread, scotch shortbread, smorgasbord. Author includes many anecdotes about traditions that go with many of the recipes. For example, "It's a Scotch custom to serve shortbread, fruitcake, and a "wee drap" when friends drop in on holidays".
As unique and special as the recipes are, I believe it is Ellen Nelson's quaint, artistic drawings that make this cookbook truly a prize for the discerning collector. Ms Nelson was well known for her illustrations and greeting cards.
